Global ME was founded by two sisters in 2021 who were joined by their cousin in 2024. The girls share a passion for service and a desire to improve the world in which they live. The girls lived thousands of miles apart, two in New York City and one in Alexandria, Egypt, yet they realized that menstrual injustices impact every community in the world. The students came together to form Global ME, in hopes of providing global menstrual equity, and combatting the stigmas around periods that, too, exist in every region of the world.
Global ME Foundation was founded with support from The Experiment Digital. The Experiment Digital is funded by the Stevens Initiative which is sponsored by the US Department of State and administered by the Aspen Institute. The Stevens Initiative is also supported by the Bezos Family Foundation and the Governments of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates. The Initiative is an international effort to build global competence and career readiness skills for youth people in the United States, the Middle East and North Africa.
